Exposés are my favorite. Learning about past styles and fashion in my opinion is detrimental to the idea of 'MODE'. This weeks, designer pick is Valentino. Naturally, he is the first to be featured because he is an icon. I know that they're many other designers/courtiers that hold the same iconic stature as Valentino, but I chose him because he is my icon.
Valentino Caravani was the designer and founder of Valentino SpA. More recently, he has retired from this position only to be succeeded shortly by Gucci's Alessandra Fasschinetti and more recently to be succeeded by Maria Grazia Chuiri and Pier Paolo Piccioli.
Valentino is best known for his exquisite couture gowns and designing for clientele of royal proportions and there is even a first lady included to the list, Jackie Kennedy Onassis.
In addition to the success of Valentino, stands a man in his shadows, Giancarlo Giammetti. Giammetti was the Honorary President of the Valentino Fashion House.
Valentino introduced collections of red and whites that were intriguing for their time. His appreciation and obsession for the female silhouette has been expressed into his designs, with each piece, craft or embroidery being as detailed as it possibly could
" I love beauty, it is not my fault."
